Kitchen Cabinet Painting & Refinishing in Spokane, WA

A kitchen remodel doesn’t always have to start with tearing everything out.

In many homes, the cabinets themselves are still in excellent condition. They may simply look dated or show years of everyday wear. That’s exactly why cabinet painting in Spokane has become one of the most popular ways to update a home. With proper preparation, premium coatings, and careful attention to detail, existing cabinets can be transformed into a completely new-looking kitchen without the expense and disruption of replacement.

For this cabinet refinishing project in Spokane, Washington, the homeowners chose to invest in the cabinets they already had rather than start over. Their cabinets were solid, well-built, and worth saving. Through a professional refinishing process, we were able to give the kitchen a fresh, updated appearance while preserving the quality craftsmanship that was already there.

Why Homeowners Choose Cabinet Refinishing

Kitchen cabinets are one of the first things people notice when they walk into a home. Even if the layout still works well, outdated finishes can make the entire kitchen feel older than it really is. Painting existing cabinets is one of the highest-value upgrades you can make. It costs significantly less than replacing cabinets, avoids weeks of demolition and installation, and allows homeowners to completely change the style of their kitchen without changing the layout.

Many older cabinets are also built with better materials than many newer stock cabinets. Instead of replacing quality cabinetry, refinishing gives them a second life with a beautiful, modern finish that fits today’s design trends.

Professional Cabinet Painting Preparation

Cabinet painting isn’t the same as painting walls or trim. Kitchen cabinets have to stand up to grease, moisture, fingerprints, cleaning products, and years of daily use. A finish that isn’t properly prepared often begins to chip or wear long before it should. That’s why preparation is the foundation of every cabinet refinishing project we complete.

For this kitchen, every cabinet door, drawer front, and cabinet box was carefully cleaned before primer was applied. We used professional Festool and SurfPrep sanding systems connected to dust-extraction equipment, dramatically reducing airborne dust while creating the ideal surface for maximum adhesion. Each surface was sanded again between coats to achieve the smooth, factory-like finish homeowners expect from professional refinishing.

Throughout the project, the surrounding floors, countertops, and nearby surfaces were carefully masked and protected to keep the home clean while the transformation took place.

Durable Cabinet Coatings and Finishes

Not all cabinet paints are created equal.

For this project, we used a professional Centurion cabinet coating system, including catalyzed primer and Centurion Polyurethane. This two-component (2K) coating system is specifically designed for cabinetry and cures into a hard, durable finish that resists scratches, moisture, and everyday wear far better than standard paint products.

Each cabinet received multiple coats of primer and finish to create a smooth, furniture-quality appearance that not only looks beautiful but is built to handle everyday life in a busy kitchen.

Details That Set Cabinet Refinishing Apart

A new cabinet color is only part of the transformation. The real difference comes from the care taken throughout the process. Careful masking, dust-controlled sanding, premium coatings, and multiple finish coats all work together to create a finish that looks and feels like it came from the factory.

It’s a slower, more detailed process than simply applying paint, but it’s also what allows professionally refinished cabinets to maintain their beauty for years to come.
